The Interlude (2022)
Written and directed by Holly Elizaveta, The Interlude is an experimental work for the screen that blends characteristics of narrative film and video art. Time passes slowly as friends Chi, Adam, Conor, Bec and Elias dance, discuss creative endeavours and play listless games during a lacklustre Airbnb staycation. The work explores the unease of entering adulthood amidst intense uncertainty, examining fear and futility with dark humour. The Interlude was first presented at Missing Persons in the 2022 Melbourne International Fringe Festival, where it was nominated for Best in Visual Art and Film. It was screened on a continuous loop in an installation curated by Elizaveta as an extension of the uncanny environment inhabited by the characters in the film. The Interlude was co-produced with Alberto di Troia.
